Another award for a young talent from Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies: Gianluca Piccolino, a research fellow for a project coordinated by David Natali and Edoardo Bressanelli, Associate Professors at the DIRPOLIS Institute of the Sant'Anna School, is among the winners of the "Carlo Maria Santoro Prize" thanks to a study, carried out in tandem with Leonardo Puleo (post-doc at Université Libre de Bruxelles, formerly a PhD student at the Sant'Anna School),on the Italian political party ' Brothers of Italy'.

The "Carlo Maria Santoro Prize" is awarded to the best paper presented at the previous year's Italian Society of Political Science conference by an unstructured member. The committee justified the award to Piccolino and Puleo's paper, titled "The Curious Case of Brothers of Italy: rebranding from the old post-fascist right to the new sovereigntist right" as it was considered "a comprehensive, interesting and as timely as ever case study that underlies a 'difficult' general research question. When can a party truly be called new? What dimensions need to be considered? How much does organizational legacy impact, how much ideological change and the opportunities offered by changes in the electoral market? The authors' well-argued answers offer insights for further study and extensions to other cases".
